El funk del Cristo
Took a ride home in the funk mobile last night. And I mean that in the most literal terms possible.
Although the bus driver of route 629 looked to all appearances like your typical Mexican bus driver, he was not afraid to let his true funk shine forth. Or blast forth for that matter.
Instead of the expected banda or mariachi, he had a playlist of "Greatest Funk Hits" playing at an unabashed decible, complete with disco ball and flashing colored light show highlighting a large crucifix on the dash. No joke. Jesus totally got his funk on.
In sum, in the course of my commute home, many a thing was gotten up off of, many a boogie was woogied, and many a groove thang was shook. I arrived home bewildered, with a slight ringing in my ears, and a mild confusion as to whether I should a-get-on-up, or a-get-on-down.
Such are the joys of public transportation.

El regreso de la güera!
Dear mom mainly, et al.,
I'm back! After a year and a week, I've decided to see if getting back to this whole blogging thing can add a little pizzazz to my life. I also feel like I've lost touch with my U.S. reality somewhat, so maybe sharing life here with you guys will help me connect my two worlds a bit.
